The Victim of Gender Violence Care Service of the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security of the Government of the Canary Islands (Cecoes 1-1-2) received 1,035 calls for gender violence from Lanzarote between January and October of this year, 6.7% more than the same period of 2018, when 970 calls were registered from the island of Lanzarote, according to reports from the Canarian Institute of Equality.
Regarding last October, there were 97 incidents of gender violence that were registered on the island, 5.4% more than the previous year. As specified by the Government of the Canary Islands, 66 were emergencies, "situations of imminent danger to the life, property and/or rights of people"; 23 were urgent, "subjective situation that requires attention and can be prioritized", and eight for information.
The report of the Canarian Institute of Equality also states that of those 97 calls for gender violence received by 112 from Lanzarote, six were for physical violence with sexual assault, 37 for physical violence without sexual assault, 53 for non-physical violence and one for consultation.
