The Lanzarote artist Nicolás Laíz has been awarded at the JustMad fair held in Madrid.
Specifically, it was his work "Micropaisaje1" that won the second prize at this emerging art fair.
In addition to Nicolás Laíz, two other local artists, Moneiba Lemes and Daniel Jordán, also attended this international art event. The three attended this event sponsored by the Culture Area of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, through its "Desembarco" project, contemplated within the Lanzarote Cultural Action Plan 2020, which seeks to highlight the quality of local artistic creations.
Following this recognition, the president of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Pedro San Ginés, received the artist at the institution and conveyed his congratulations, both in his name and on behalf of the entire Island Corporation.
A "pride for the island"
The president of the Cabildo, Pedro San Ginés, stated that it is a "pride for the island that one of the prizes of this international meeting of artists is for a conejero creator, in addition to the satisfaction of the institution of being the only one in the entire festival that contributes to the promotion of young artists for their external projection".
In the reception, together with Laíz, was the Minister of Culture, Óscar Pérez, who congratulated the three exhibiting artists and Adonay Bermúdez for accepting the commission for this first action of "Desembarco". The art commissioner of the Lanzarote delegation, Adonay Bermúdez, was also present, who explained the importance of the participation of local artists in JustMad, since the ARCO fair, known worldwide, is held in parallel, which means the "exposure to the eyes of critics and consolidated artists of the works of emerging artists".
