The traveling exhibition, 'César Manrique. 100 years of life', produced and organized by the Foundation that bears his name, will open for the first time this Friday, June 7, at the Arrecife Post Office headquarters. This exhibition, which is curated by Adonay Bermúdez, is part of the program of commemorative activities for the centenary of the artist's birth (Lanzarote, 1919-1992) developed by the César Manrique Foundation.
The inauguration will take place at 12:00 noon at the Post Office in the capital, located at Calle Caldera de Taburiente, number 2 2. The event will be attended by the director of the Post Office in Arrecife, Carmen Iglesias; the president and director of the FCM, José Juan Ramírez and Fernando Gómez Aguilera, respectively; as well as the curator of the exhibition, Adonay Bermúdez.
'César Manrique. 100 years of life' is composed of about thirty panels with images and texts that include not only the artist's pictorial work, but also his public and sculptural work. Likewise, this exhibition highlights his environmental protection work and his activist character through his own words.
The exhibition offers a chronological and informative reading, with the aim of bringing the artist's life and work closer to all audiences. It is planned that 'César Manrique. 100 years of life' can be seen in more than 20 spaces, such as in the new passenger terminal of Fred Olsen Express of the Port of Arrecife or in the Municipal Library of La Laguna, as well as in several schools in the Canary Islands.
