Lanzarote will have an electronic music festival by GreenWold, a project that has been held for years in the south of Tenerife. On May 13, the first edition of EMEC Festival will be held at the International Museum of Contemporary Art, MIAC - Castillo San José, an event with electronic music that also combines gastronomy, ecology and art, which will bring to the capital of Lanzarote prominent figures of international electronic music such as the German Melanie Ribbe and the British Waff.

According to the Art, Culture and Tourism Centers (CACT) in a statement, "this is the first commitment made in Lanzarote to dance music, with the presence of top-level DJs from around the world", which has the guarantee of the GreenWorld brand seal.

EMEC (Ecology, Music, Electronics and Culture) is also "a commitment to gastronomic culture, promoting local products, with a zero-kilometer market that will be added to the offer of the emblematic Castillo San José restaurant", CACT pointed out in a note. It also emphasizes that "the festival is born with a strong environmental awareness and a defined sustainability policy, which will not only ensure zero ecological impact but also provide attendees with information on the sustainable management of the event." In this sense, it should be noted that the Festival will have, as a great novelty, a specific parking area for electric and hybrid vehicles.

Another key in the philosophy of EMEC is "the inclusion of women and the firm commitment to gender equality" in each of the levels of its production, both in the artistic aspect and in the structure of the staff. The festival will have a violet point where any type of gender violence behavior can be treated and reported.

About EMEC

The festival will take place on May 13 for nine hours starting at three in the afternoon. In addition to the international DJ stage, there will be a second space under the name of Local Heroes where Maxi Ferrer, Basilio Coco, Ángel Pérez, Javi Fajardo and Checha Tambo will develop their sessions.

A cocktail-lunch will be served with gastronomy made from local products and attendees will be able to enjoy an exhibition of paintings by artists from Lanzarote.

International artists at EMEC

Melanie Ribbe, born in Germany and raised in Jamaica, is no stranger to the electronic music scene. "Her passion for music has been present since childhood, when she recorded cassette mixtapes in her room at the age of 8 or made mixes to then make them digitally when she received her first computer during her adolescence".

On stage, she is creative and eloquent. Melanie is distinguished by a unique style of tech-house that moves the crowd. These skills have led her to tour the world and play in some of the most important clubs and festivals such as Fabrik Madrid, Somos Festival, D-Edge and Lollapalooza.

From her roots in the Leeds and Hull DJproducer underground scene, WAFF has become world famous and has gained wide respect. His schedule is relentless and he is the only British artist to have recorded for the three major European labels, Cocoon, Drumcode and Desolat.

His performances in Ibiza range from his residency at Paradise at DC-10 to Elrow at Amnesia, from Hï Ibiza (formerly Space) to Ants at Ushuaïa (including sessions with Andrea Oliva). He has recently been on a tour of South America with events in Medellín, Bogotá, Buenos Aires and Montevideo.
