The CIFP Zonzamas of Arrecife and the IES Teguise have also been awarded at Cinedfest, which this Thursday celebrated the awards ceremony in the categories of Secondary, Baccalaureate and FP-CEPA-
Hall 8 of the Yelmo cinemas in the capital of Tenerife once again became the "theater of dreams" for five hundred schoolchildren from various parts of the Canary Islands. The participants saw on the big screen the result of their own audiovisual work recorded during the 2018/2019 film course.

The acting Minister of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands, Soledad Monzón, was responsible for announcing to the more than 500 attendees of the gala the work most valued by the jury for being the film that has best captured the spirit of the Educational Festival of the Canary Islands. "Cinedfest is growing and allows us to make visible the talent that exists in the islands," she said.
'Sshh', from IES Villalba Hervás (La Orotava, Tenerife), won the Cinedfest Grand Prize, a short film that presents a dystopian society in which those who deviate from the pre-established are persecuted. For its part, the CIFP Zonzamas of Arrecife won the award for best comedy in FP for 'Try Again', while the IES Teguise won the audience award in the same educational cycle for 'Like a Watering Can'.
The morning gala, presented by the interpreter Mingo Ávila (who participates in the recent series Hierro), began at 11 am after a crowded photo session, in which the Canary Islands schoolchildren were movie stars for a day. The interventions of students, teachers and public officials followed one another, in a dynamic way, some to thank for the awards and others to deliver them.
"This festival is a unique experience," said a student from IES Casas Nuevas. "Cinema and education must go hand in hand. I encourage everyone to participate in Cinedfest," said a teacher from Ceip Zonzamas. "This year we have shot 170 short films and it is a pride that this festival rewards the creativity of the students," said a teacher from IES La Laboral.
Winners
The jury that decided which of the educational centers took the awards was made up of, among others, the German-born actress from El Hierro, Aïda Ballmann, the director of the Canary Islands Film Library, María Calimano, and the filmmaker Ángel Valiente.
Thus, the first prize for Secondary Education followed (The Jury, from IES Santa Lucía, Gran Canaria), an intelligent reflection, in a comedy key, of gender roles; of Baccalaureate (Big Data from IES Benito Pérez Armas, Tenerife), a lucid reflection on capitalism and technological control; and FP-CEPA (Track List, from the brand new School of Art of Fuerteventura), animation that raises awareness about the importance of road safety. Likewise, the Distribution award, which went to Privacy 0-Friends 2, from CIFP César Manrique (Tenerife), chosen for its technical quality, based on a sequence shot, and because it addresses the LGTBI theme. This film will be distributed for nine months in international festivals. The complete list of winners can be found on the website cinedfest.com.
