The Sonidos Líquidos festival has received the award for the best national festival in the Contribution to Sustainability category at a gala held on March 15 in Granada. Thus, it is the second time that it has obtained this award in its showcase, after receiving it in 2020.
The fundamental axes of the event are: preservation of the environment, social impulse and promotion of the circular economy. According to the press release, from its beginnings, "the organization has always had as its main objective to protect the environment, so much so that it carries out a wide variety of actions so that attendees, the public, artists, as well as the contracted personnel, are aware of the fragility of the space".
We are talking, among other measures, of responsible transport with the buses enabled from different points of the island; green energy through photovoltaic panels that help the total electricity supply; reduction of capacity in each edition prioritizing a qualitative event; or, control and measurement of the acoustic impact during its celebration.
On the social level, Sonidos Líquidos has achieved a strong synergy with local groups and institutions. The festival collaborates closely with the Cabildo de Lanzarote through Geoparque or the Culture area, entities such as Promotur; without forgetting the support of the municipalities of Yaiza and San Bartolomé. Also, it continues to establish a special link with associations such as El Cribo, through campaigns such as "Sonamos Contigo"; and the collaboration with companies such as Chacón, with which it has sponsored a project called Chaboco Natura, which focuses on the dissemination, education and conservation of the flora of the islands, and of which there will soon be more details about it.
Likewise, the association with the Regulatory Council reflects the promotion of Lanzarote Wines, which also merge with the great gastronomic offer of local origin, underlining the festival's commitment to the kilometer zero philosophy from its beginnings. In addition, there is a participation and pairing with other prestigious cultural events on the island that intertwine similar goals, such as the Lanzarote International Film Festival, Traslación, Dance Festival or Heart, a performing arts festival where culture and good social practices are the main thread.
On the other hand, during this intense weekend, Sonidos Líquidos has also made another commitment to support local musical talent, participating as a jury in the recent Sonora 2024 contest, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. After evaluating the performances of ten talented emerging bands from the islands, the organization is pleased to announce that Nala Rami and her band, winners of the contest, will perform on the utopian stage of La Geria, on June 8. On the stage they will be able to delight the attendees by sharing their funky music in a unique environment.
Before the big date in La Geria, for which there is, according to the organization, "an imminent sold out", you can enjoy Sonidos Líquidos through its Belingueos. April comes loaded with music with Eli Paperboy Reed on the 14th at the Sala Alboroto (Las Palmas); and The Next Movement on the 21st of the same month at the Casa Ajei in San Bartolomé. Also in May there will be an appointment on Sunday the 19th at Bodegas el Grifo with the performance of Colectivo Panamera. While all this is happening, the organization continues to configure the rest of the program of parallel activities for both Thursday 6 and Friday 7 June, as well as other musical surprises that will take place previously.
