The reopening of the cultural activities programmed by the Casa del Miedo Cultural Association in the Ribera del Charco de San Ginés in Arrecife has been a resounding success.
At 8:30 p.m. last Friday, the newly elected president, José Tabares Saavedra, was very happy and excited and welcomed the members, representatives of various cultural groups and neighbors, who flocked to the call made by the new Board of Directors.
José Tabares thanked everyone for their presence, after filling the allowed capacity in the social hall. In his words, he also kept in mind all those who are lending a hand with the new project for which he needs the help and collaboration of all those women and men who want to join the project with the aim of getting the Casa del Miedo Cultural Association to once again lead the culture that should never have been lost. In his speech, Tabares also thanked the Government Group of the Arrecife City Council for their collaboration, while giving them a slap on the wrist for the unfulfilled promises.
The event also included the collaboration of the Lanzarote writer Félix Hormiga, who, taking a trip through time, recalled when he met with a group of friends who loved reading and theater in the library of the Casa del Miedo, emphasizing also some other stories of sailors living in the area of the Charco de San Ginés.
Hormiga, a man knowledgeable about the seafaring history of Arrecife, aroused great interest among those attending the reopening. The event was presented by the young neighbor Pedro Arrocha, willing to collaborate to make the project successful. Arrocha introduced the San Bartolomé Municipal Polyphonic Choir, directed by Professor Mariola Ferrer, who performed a selection of songs based on habaneras, boleros, tangos, etc.
The teacher and the choir members, very animated and supported by the applause of the public, gave everything in each of the songs that were performed. Recently arrived from their tour of Granada, where they shared a cultural exchange with the Choir of the Artistic Center of Granada and also shared a performance with the Festín de Musas Choir. After the performance of the San Bartolomé Municipal Choir, the event was closed with the joy reflected on the faces of directors, neighbors and the general public, after the Casa del Miedo Cultural Association resumed cultural programming.
