The shore of the Charco de San Ginés, next to the House of Fear, experienced a night of popular music this Thursday with performances by the Teguey Popular Music Group of San Bartolomé, which was performing for the first time at the capital's festivities, and the Parranda El Golpito.

Teguey, which owes its name to an aboriginal settlement that existed in the 16th century on the slope of Montaña Mina, is made up of about 25 members from different parts of the island who, very excited, presented themselves in society on April 30 at the Municipal Theater of San Bartolomé, under the presidency of Sergio García and the musical direction of Leo García.

For its staging in the Charco de San Gines, Teguey chose self-composed themes such as 'Volcán Soñador', 'Isa al Campesino', 'Folias a Teguey' or 'Raíz Aborigen', also interspersing some popular ones with genres to the rhythm of merengue, waltz or cumbia. In addition, for this performance, Teguey had the collaboration of two prominent soloists, Fabio Martín, member of the El Golpito parranda, and José Manuel García, from the Los Campesinos folklore group.

El Golpito Performance

Next, there was the performance of one of the most requested parrandas in all of the Canary Islands, the Parranda El Golpito, which since winning a television contest has developed an unstoppable career, touring the eight islands in a very short time.

With an extensive repertoire of popular songs that have been part of the lives of many generations and to which the members of the Parranda El Golpito have put their own stamp with very good judgment, they managed to get the public to dance, including the Councilor for Festivities of the Arrecife City Council, Nova Kirkpatrick.
