Mari Carmen Dorta, representing the municipality of Haría, was elected Sovereign of the Carnival this Sunday. For her part, Carmen Medina, candidate from the municipality of Arrecife, won the title of first lady of honor. And the second lady of honor was Laly Padura, representing the island of La Graciosa.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, and the head of the Senior Area, Nori Machín, -on behalf of the entire Island Corporation and the rest of the local entities-, have conveyed their congratulations to the candidates who participated this Sunday in the I Gala of the Senior Carnival, especially to the award winners.
The event had the collaboration of the municipalities of the island and served as a meeting point for the elderly, as well as for the election of the first Sovereigns of the Carnival of Lanzarote.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, conveyed his sincere congratulations to all the municipalities of the island that have collaborated in this gala, as well as to their public representatives, especially the mayor of Arrecife, Yonathán de León, and the councilor of Festivities, Echedey Eugenio, as hosts of the Carnival of Arrecife and for their great involvement in this island initiative that has turned out to be a great success framed in the celebration of an unprecedented carnival event in the capital.
For her part, the councilor of the Senior Area, Nori Machín, highlighted the quality of the event and the good atmosphere. “The Agramar stage was filled with joy and tradition, and gave us a unique opportunity to enjoy and celebrate our carnival culture together with our elders.”
Attendees were able to enjoy the performances of different carnival groups, among which are the murga Los Simplones and the comparsas Sur Caliente and Timanfeiros. In addition, the folkloric artist Charo Reina delighted the public with her talent and charisma, offering an unforgettable show for all those present.
