The municipal tent of La Villa hosted the presentation of the Los Cumbacheros troupe from Tahíche this Saturday. This year they are celebrating their tenth anniversary and celebrated it with an explosive staging and a spectacular design by Borja Abreu, "The Treasure of Sheba." The group is under the presidency and choreography of Sergio Niz and the musical direction of Gesury García. Its 52 members surprised the public, who did not stop applauding their professionalism, discipline, and dedication throughout their performance.
The Gala also featured performances by the Los Joroperos troupe, who came from the city of La Laguna - Tenerife, and who are celebrating their Golden Wedding this year. Among the many awards they have won, they hold the "Gold Medal" from the City of La Laguna. Its members wore the fantasy "The Secret" by Borja Abreu.
On such a special night, the 40 members of the Los Simplones murga also took to the stage, founded in the seaside neighborhood of Valterra in 2005 and presided over by Mencey Curbelo and directed by Enrique Martín. The murga performed the song entitled "A Song for Phrases" and dedicated a song to the Los Cumbacheros troupe alluding to their "X Anniversary."
The night continued with maximum expectation when suddenly the cowbells were heard to the cry of "Elegua" produced by some of the members of Los Diabletes de Teguise also joining the party. Thus contributing part of their ancestral legacy, one of the oldest traditions in the Canary Islands.
The management and members of the Los Cumbacheros troupe have worked tirelessly for many months to offer the public the best and surprise them with a magnificent parade with a catwalk included, showing off each of the fantasies from previous years called "Masquerade Ball."
The night was full of surprises and this year Los Cumbacheros have institutionalized what will be their highest award "Silver Mask", and this year it was given to the "Afilarmónica Las Revoltosas", from San Bartolomé, the first female murga from Lanzarote and the Canary Islands that is celebrating its "40th Anniversary".
The mayor of the Teguise city council, Oswaldo Betancort, and corporation colleagues, opposition, also attended the anniversary party. The night ended with a great party at the expense of the hosts, which was widely applauded by the public that filled the permitted capacity.
