The third edition of the Cinedfest educational film festival has the participation of 11 centers from Lanzarote. In total, 223 educational centers have registered for the contest, 157 from the Canary Islands and 66 from the rest of the national territory. Among the centers of Lanzarote are the IES Haría, the CPEPS Santa María de los Volcanes, the Pancho Lasso Art School, the IES Puerto del Carmen, the IES San Bartolomé or the IES Yaiza.
Among the novelties of the cinematographic course 2015/2016, a new prize stands out: the award for the best poster, which connects with a poster design video-workshop that will be available to teachers and students through the Cinedfest portal. Likewise, a video-workshop on lighting and another on makeup effects will be developed.
The third edition of Cinedfest, in which a total of 25 Spanish provinces participate, maintains all the awards from the past edition. In the Canary Islands section, the Cinedfest Grand Prize stands out. Also this edition will be the Distribution award and the first prizes for each school stage: Primary, Secondary, Baccalaureate and FP-CEPA. Likewise, the Enclave award will be sponsored by Sinpromi, and the Peninsula sections (which will close its registration period on January 31, 2016) and Ibero-America will continue.
The promoters of Cinedfest, David Cánovas and Antonio Hernández, will once again teach face-to-face film classes throughout the course in all the Canary Islands. This third year, priority will be given to centers that have not participated in past editions. "We have a series of centers that are very loyal to Cinedfest who are still enthusiastic about the idea of shooting short films and that fills us with joy; but we are also excited to see that there are new centers every year and that they deserve to have the experience of the classes assured," says Cánovas.
International impact
Several winning short films from the past two editions of Cinedfest have been exhibited at international festivals in countries such as China, Croatia, Colombia, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Canada, Cuba, England, the United States (Texas and Florida), among others.
Recently, the film "No wi-fi no love", shot by Cinedfest students in the past year, won the award for best international teenage short film at the eighth Short Film Exhibition of the Young Police of Costa Rica, declared an activity of cultural interest by the Costa Rican government. "The justice of the caudillo does not punish" and "Carpe Diem", also recorded at Cinedfest, were finalists.
The registration period to participate in the cinematographic course 2015/2016, was carried out through the website www.cinedfest.com and ended on November 30, 2015 for the Canary Island centers. The classes will begin in January 2016 and more than 120 training actions will be carried out in the requesting educational centers of all the islands, to which the basic tools to carry out the filming of a fiction short film will be approached in an entertaining, theoretical and practical way.
Cinedfest is sponsored by the Cabildo de Tenerife, the innovation area of the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo de Gran Canaria and with the collaboration of Cines Yelmo, Naviera Armas, Canary Fly, Digital 104 Film Distribution and Televisión Canaria.
