Teguise celebrated the birth of the child Jesus in the Church of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe in the Villa, where the Rancho Chico, its little angels and the archangel in the living portal performed the religious staging before the presence of many neighbors and visitors on a special Christmas Eve in which the Rancho de Pascuas recovered a tradition without the restrictions of the period marked by the pandemic.

During the entrance of the Rancho de Pascuas to the church, a minute of silence was held in memory and honor of an admired companion of the Rancho, Gregorio Betancor. Likewise, the Rancho de Pascuas de Teguise decided to grant its highest distinction to the official chronicler, Francisco Hernández, in recognition of his person and the commendable work he does in favor of the Christmas traditions of Teguise, as well as his role as a disseminator of the customs of the municipality.

“A well-deserved recognition to our beloved chronicler who for so many years has watched over the custody and dissemination of the history and culture of Teguise”, said the mayor, Oswaldo Betancort, who praised his valuable contribution and that of all the members of the Rancho de Pascuas de Teguise, “a group that, in addition to playing the swords, the bakers, the timple, the requinto or the castanets, actively collaborates in the research and knowledge of our ancestral tradition”
