Calicanto shone with its own light under the volcanic vault of the Auditorium of Los Jameos del Agua. With a staging very careful by the 20 women members of the musical group Calicanto and their eight friends, all great musicians with very tuned voices and united to the musical chords, they conquered the public during the presentation of their first record work entitled 'Song to the love of a decade'. Last Saturday night was a very special night that the members of Calicanto will not forget so easily.
The adventure that began twelve years ago when the women, mostly from folk groups, decided to form a musical group. But not only to continue singing folklore, they wanted something different and not to forget the root from where they came. Thus adding to their repertoire those songs that they had listened to soloists and musical groups of the time, moment in which they began the adventure under the presidency of Raquel Aparicio and the musical direction of Vanessa Rijo.
As they say, "almost without realizing it, 12 years have passed and we are still very excited." So excited they arrived at the Auditorium of Los Jameos del Agua, for them something unthinkable, but the dream came true: the presentation of their first record work. In this "incomparable frame", a compilation of their favorite songs, of love and heartbreak. This album recorded in Lanzarote mixed and mastered by a great professional, Ivanhoe Rodríguez in his studio 'El Recibidor', in which the smallest detail has been taken care of so that Calicanto followers can enjoy it with total clarity.
In the presentation ceremony Calicanto sang each of the thirteen songs that make up the album, the favorite number of the components in which an isa parrandera and folías is also included. During the concert the group members felt very supported by the public, who did not stop applauding each of their songs and standing up. In addition, they were supported by the members of the comparsa Los Cumbacheros de Tahíche who put the finishing touch to a very special night for Calicanto.
