The audiovisual project IsLAbentura Canarias 2024 has collected the series 'Astro' and the feature film 'Tras la vela', two creations inspired by Lanzarote and La Graciosa.

This Tuesday, April 23, in a place as attractive as the Islote de Fermina, the presentation of the participants took place, by the general director of Cultural Innovation and Creative Industries of the Government of the Canary Islands, Cristóbal de la Rosa; accompanied by the CEO of SPEL Turismo Lanzarote; Héctor Fernández; the coordinator of Canary Islands Film, Natacha Mora; and the project director, María José Manso.

According to Cristóbal de la Rosa, "this project is part of the Government's audiovisual strategy, in this case, it is oriented to the search for talent where that work begins, the script, and it does so from our own culture and our own capacity to generate, recreate Canarian stories."

For his part, Héctor Fernández, highlighted that "IsLABentura promotes the audiovisual project of the destination and our culture, through the meeting between scriptwriters and tutors. In short, it is a great laboratory of ideas and generation of local talent."

The scriptwriters are the nine men and five women whose story idea managed to arouse the interest of this laboratory and get one of the 14 coveted places that were convened internationally. Eight are islanders, five peninsular and one from Colombia. To participate in it there were only two fundamental requirements: to write in Spanish and to propose an interesting story located in this archipelago, or referring to some fact in the history of the islands, their landscapes or their heritage. Once selected, their authors will have until October to finalize and present their scripts to some of the most powerful national and international production companies.

The group arrives in Lanzarote on Monday 22 and, after visiting some of the most emblematic places on the island under the organization of Lanzarote Film Commission, they will spread throughout the Archipelago to return to the island of Lanzarote four days later. Here they will participate in two workshops related to audiovisual writing, also open to the public upon registration on the website of Canary Islands Film. They will be on Saturday, April 27, in the morning and afternoon at Marina Innova Hub, in Arrecife, taught by Elena Alonso and Cristina Calle, under the title 'Experiential Creation'; and by Josep Gatell with 'The inevitable pitch'.

It should also be noted that the laboratory once again has a powerful group of specialists in film and television scripts this year. This year will be Pepe Coira (series Hierro y Rapa); Diana Rojo (Luimelia, Amar es para siempre); Joaquín Oristrell (Bajarse al moro, De qué se ríen las mujeres), Yolanda García Serrano (Farmacia de Guardia, Todos los hombres sois iguales), David Muñoz (El espinazo del diablo, No mires a los ojos), Marta Buchaca (Fenómenas, El juego de las llaves) and Isa Sánchez (El Ministerio del tiempo, Malaka).

The participants in the 2024 laboratory are Eduardo Cubillo Blasco, Alejandro Artiles Rodríguez, Gonzalo Lugo Godoy, Hugo Santa Cruz, Arima León, Daute Campos, Atteneri G. Herrera, Esther Fernández Guerra, Héctor Beltrán; Alejandro González Ygoa; Jorge Begega Sánchez; Rebeca Serrada Pariente, María Dorao Moris and Bryan Aguirre Gamboa.

Of their stories, seven are for feature films and another seven for series; and there are two for each of the seven islands, including La Graciosa associated with Lanzarote. After this first face-to-face meeting, on Sunday 28 they will return to their places of residence, where they will continue the writing work with online advice. They will return in July and October, for meetings in El Hierro and Tenerife, respectively.
