Teguise has presented a new web portal, Historiadeteguise.com, for consulting historical, graphic and audiovisual documents about the history of the municipality; a project that has been the result of a research and document compilation work carried out over several years by Óscar Torres and Jesús Perdomo. The website, which was exhibited in the Municipal Library of Teguise on the afternoon of this Tuesday, is now available to the inhabitants of the municipality and the rest of Internet users.
"Historiadeteguise.com aims to contribute to the enrichment of the cultural heritage of Teguise", said its promoter, Óscar Torres, during the presentation, who detailed the information available on the portal, including the proclamations of the town's festivals and abundant historical references. "This exhibition of historical documents is the starting point of an ambitious project in which, in addition to images, documents, descriptions and specific studies, there will be room for audiovisual records, digitized data on the history of Teguise, etc., so that its content will be in permanent growth", explained Torres.
This portal "will serve both as an aid to the student and to anyone interested in the history of the municipality", they pointed out from the Teguise City Council. The mayor Oswaldo Betancort, thanked the contribution made "without profit by Óscar Torres, Jesús Perdomo, and all those who have collaborated in the project"; a task that he stressed "has been carried out with enthusiasm, sacrifice and rigor". Betancort also "invited everyone to visit this web portal to enjoy discovering experiences, customs and ways of a people, which are now and forever documented through this new channel of information and dissemination, a window to the past of Teguise, fully open for young and not so young people who feel that curiosity for our own". In this sense, "the web will allow to delve into the origins of the town of Teguise, to know in depth its history, its traditions, its festivals, its customs, in short, its people".
