Ireland is the foreign country that most frequently searched for 'Lanzarote' on Google in the last twelve months. Next are United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany.

According to Google Trends, which analyzes the popularity of Google searches with respect to the total searches in a given country or region on a scale of 1 to 100, Ireland was, by far, the foreign country where the term 'Lanzarote' was most popular on Google with respect to the total number of searches in its territory.

In fact, the term 'Lanzarote' reached 88 popularity points out of 100 in Ireland in the last twelve months.

This is many more searches in proportion to the total than those that occurred in the United Kingdom, which is the largest source of tourists to Lanzarote and where the popularity of 'Lanzarote' among Google searches was 30 points.

In the United Kingdom, Northern Irish search for 'Lanzarote' the most, English the least

The British, who account for more than half of tourist arrivals to Lanzarote, do not all search Google equally.

Northern Irish are the ones who most often search for 'Lanzarote', even more than their neighbors in the Republic of Ireland. Next are the Scottish, followed by the Welsh. The English made the fewest searches, although as they make up 84% of the UK population, this is obviously reflected in their greater representation in the number of arrivals to the island.

After the United Kingdom, the countries where Lanzarote was most popular in Google searches are Luxembourg (19 points), Belgium (14 points), Netherlands (13 points) and Germany (10 points).

'Lanzarote' is most searched in February and is associated with sports activities

Internationally, the term 'Lanzarote' is searched on Google mainly in February and somewhat less in January, while the period in which the island experiences fewer searches on Google is the last months of the year, between November and December.

The week in which the fewest searches were made about Lanzarote was between December 19 and 25, when Christmas with family takes away the spotlight from trips away from home in most European countries.

International citizens who search for 'Lanzarote' on Google also often ask the search engine 'what time is it on the island' and 'what's the weather like'. Also very popular, as associated searches, are the Ironman of Lanzarote, as well as some hotel establishments focused on sports.

Lanzarote, the most searched island in Ireland, United Kingdom and France

From the comparison of searches about the three largest islands of the province, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura, it can be inferred that Lanzarote is the leader in Ireland, with 78% of searches compared to 17% for Gran Canaria and 9% for Fuerteventura.

It is also the first in the United Kingdom, where it obtains more than half of the searches compared to 29% for Gran Canaria and 20% for Fuerteventura.

In France, Lanzarote also tops the table with 54% of searches, while Fuerteventura obtains 32% and Gran Canaria accounts for 14%.

Finally, Lanzarote is also the most popular in Slovakia, where it accumulates more than half of the searches about the three islands.

Gran Canaria leads in the Nordic countries and the Benelux

For its part, Gran Canaria leads searches in the Nordic countries and by a wide margin. In Norway it accumulates 88% of the total searches about the three islands, in Sweden 80%, in Finland it is 71%, while in Denmark it reaches 58%.

Also in the Benelux, Gran Canaria accumulates most of the searches, although at a smaller distance than in the Nordic countries. In the Netherlands, Gran Canaria obtains 57% of the searches, while in Belgium it gets 46%. In Luxembourg the equation is tighter, since if Gran Canaria obtains 36% of the searches, Lanzarote stays very close with 35%.

Gran Canaria was also the first in Austria and Switzerland, where it obtained 55% and 43% of all searches about the three islands respectively. In both countries, Lanzarote occupies the third place, with 19% and 24% of searches respectively, and behind Fuerteventura.

Fuerteventura is the first in Germany and Italy

In the last twelve months, the comparison of searches of the three largest islands of the province shows that Fuerteventura was the most searched in many markets in Central Europe.

Since the German government announced the 300 euro check for its retirees to spend this winter in a warm destination, searches in Germany for the three islands have experienced a clear growth on Google.

Among them, the most searched island in Germany has been Fuerteventura with 43% of the searches compared to 38% for Gran Canaria and a meager 19% for Lanzarote.

Fuerteventura is also the first in Italy, where it accumulates 45% of the searches, compared to 33% for Lanzarote and 22% for Gran Canaria.

Also the Poles, with 44% of the searches, and the Czechs with 43%, search for Fuerteventura more often. In both countries Lanzarote occupies the third place with 22% in Poland and 26% in the Czech Republic.
