The Tourist Centers have registered a total of 247,853 visitors in June, 20.47% more than in the same month of 2019, before the pandemic, according to a report by the Cabildo collected by the Lanzarote Data Center.
This is the third consecutive month with figures higher than those before the outbreak of the coronavirus crisis, which indicates the recovery of the sector in Lanzarote, driven by the lifting of restrictions. Specifically, the month of April registered 270,235 visitors, while in May they fell to 211,285, a month in limbo between the Easter and summer holidays, but with numbers higher than those of 2019.
However, the June data is even better, with 40.52% more visits compared to the previous month and, if the figures for the same period of 2021 are taken into account, the figure is 111.14% higher, since in June 2019 only 117,386 visits were registered.
A fact that reflects the great difference in affluence in the Tourist Centers with respect to last year is the accumulated data, since in 2022 it marks a figure of 1,306,869 between January and June, compared to 324,184 in 2021.
In addition, it should be noted that this monthly and year-on-year increase has been reflected in all centers in the sixth month of the year. The Fire Mountains have been the most frequented enclave by tourists, with a total of 64,922 visits, followed by Jameos del Agua with 62,403 and the Cueva de los Verdes with 44,435. They are followed by the Mirador del Río with 35,108, the Cactus Garden with 34,933 and, finally, the Castle of San José, with a total of 6,052 in June.
