The average rate of hotels in Lanzarote increased by 13.8% last March compared to the same month last year and reached an average of 139.91 euros, according to the latest Hotel Occupancy Survey of the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
Of all the Canary Islands, Lanzarote's hotels were the ones that increased their prices the most compared to last year, specifically 19.41 euros. At that time, the average rate in Lanzarote amounted to 120.5 euros.
By municipalities, the rate of hotels in Teguise rose more than 32 euros compared to March last year to reach 122.5 euros, while in Tías it was 21 euros more up to 140.5 euros on average.
In Yaiza they exceeded 150 euros on average, although the increase compared to last year was lower, about 14 euros.
The island whose hotels registered the second largest price increase compared to last year was La Palma, although it started from much lower figures. In March they reached 83.68 euros, which is 19.36 euros more than the same month last year.
The third largest increase occurred on the island of Tenerife, where prices rose 13.4 euros compared to last year to reach an average of 153.27 euros.
In La Gomera, prices rose 13.1 euros to reach 125.93 euros, while the hotels in Gran Canaria were the ones that raised their prices the least (4.95 euros), but they are the ones that started with the highest prices in the archipelago. Thus, they reached an average of 155.55 euros.
