Lanzarote receives 22 certificates for its commitment to tourism quality

The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Sociedad de Promoción Exterior (SPEL), has presented 22 tourist establishments and services on the Island with the distinctive features of the Integral System of Tourist Quality in Destination (SICTED) that certify their commitment to the development of their activity.

For his part, Councillor Marcos Bergaz points out that it is a distinctive feature that rewards the effort made by these entities, to continue offering attention to tourists and to maintain the quality of the destination. "These awards highlight the work carried out by the business sector participating in the project, in favour of continuous improvement despite the difficulties presented in the pandemic," explains Bergaz.

Meanwhile, Ciprián Rivas, General Director of Tourism Planning and Promotion of the Canary Islands, highlighted "the work in Lanzarote to revive the tourism sector."

Among the tourist establishments and services are four beaches of Puerto del Carmen (Playa Grande, Los Pocillos, Matagorda and Playa Chica), the beach of Las Cucharas, numerous shops, such as Concept Store by Ángel Cabrera, Aloe Plus Lanzarote and tourist offices such as the Tourist Information Office Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz, the one in Villa de Teguise and Costa Teguise, María Condo and Viajes La Alegranza.

Also, several apartments, farms and hotels in Lanzarote have also been awarded, such as HD Hotel Beach Resort & SPA (Costa Teguise), Club La Santa, HG Lomo Blanco apartments (Puerto del Carmen), Finca Isabel (Mozaga – Rural Accommodation), the emblematic house Garaday Lanzarote (Tinajo) and R2 Bahía Kontiki Apartment (Puerto del Carmen).

It should be noted that, this year, four tourist establishments and services will receive the distinction for the first time (R2 Bahía Kontiki Apartament, Finca Isabel, María Condo and Aloe Plus Lanzarote), while the rest renew the quality seal. Currently, Lanzarote has a total of 135 companies registered on the SICTED management platform, of which 79 have been distinguished with the "Commitment to Tourist Quality" SICTED brand.

The award ceremony was held last Thursday, May 12, in the Plenary Hall of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and was presided over by the Vice President of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Marcos Bergaz, accompanied by the General Director of Tourism Planning and Promotion of the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ciprián Rivas Fernández, and the CEO of Turismo Lanzarote, Héctor Fernández.
