Lanzarote is the third most popular Spanish destination for British people to spend Christmas, according to the flight and hotel search engine Jetcost, which has analyzed searches from the main tourism-generating countries in Europe. The first and second most searched destinations by residents in the United Kingdom are Tenerife and Alicante.
The data comes from the results of flight searches between December 26, 2024, and January 6, 2025, which indicate that a large majority of Europeans have opted for the Canary Islands.
In addition, flight searches in general for the end of 2024 have increased by 16%, while hotel searches have increased by 19% compared to 2023.
In the case of Italians and Dutch, Lanzarote ranks ninth. The top three destinations for tourists from Italy are Tenerife, Barcelona, and Madrid, while for those from the Netherlands, they are Alicante, Malaga, and Tenerife. The island occupies the tenth position among the French, while the Germans choose it in eleventh place.
Jetcost has also revealed that Lanzarote occupies the 20th position among all destinations in the world for Europeans as a whole to spend the Christmas holidays.
Travelers from France chose Barcelona, Madrid, and Tenerife as the top three, while tourists from Germany searched primarily for Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona, and Tenerife.
For its part, Gran Canaria is the fourth most searched destination by Germans, the fifth by British and Italians, the sixth by the Dutch, and the seventh by the French and Portuguese.
