Overnight stays in the 78 hotels in Lanzarote increased by 13% in March compared to the same month of 2023, exceeding one million, according to the Lanzarote data center based on the latest Tourist Accommodation Survey of the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC).
The profits of the hotels increased by 27% compared to last year, reaching almost 72 million euros. The previous year it had been 56.8 million. The occupancy rose more than two points and exceeded 90%.
Employment has also grown strongly in hotels, by 17% compared to a year ago, reaching a total of 9,569 workers in March.
The entire Canary archipelago accumulated 38.3% of all hotel reservations from foreigners in Spain last month. Next, Catalonia and Andalusia, with 16% and 15.2% respectively.
By tourist areas, Tenerife registered the highest number of overnight stays, with more than 2.3 million. For their part, the tourist spots with the most overnight stays were Barcelona, Madrid and San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
