Last year, almost 100,000 Italian tourists arrived in Lanzarote, specifically 98,446 people, according to the Lanzarote Data Center.
That's almost triple the arrivals that were recorded ten years ago. In 2012, 37,248 Italians visited the island.
The phenomenon is part of the diversification of tourist markets that public administrations are carrying out.
And a good part of it is due to the increase in flights between the island and the transalpine country in recent years.
This winter there are 15 weekly air connections. The British company Easyjet offers two weekly frequencies from Milan Malpensa, and Ryanair offers the remaining 13 connections.
The Irish airline has 7 weekly frequencies from Milan, 2 from Bologna and also from Turin, as well as one from Rome and another from Venice.
Thus, Italy has become the fifth foreign market by volume of tourists, only surpassed by the United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland, and France.
