Turismo de Canarias has taken advantage of the impact generated by the new virtual reality glasses, recently launched by Apple, developing an advertising campaign in the center of Madrid.

Canarias launches its own glasses in a humorous tone, the 'Canary Vision Project' and has deployed a giant canvas with diving goggles in the Puerta del Sol, promising a totally real experience: the one offered by the islands as a tourist destination.

“With this fictitious launch we not only want to highlight the uniqueness and charm of the Canary Islands as a tourist destination, but also show that, although technology can offer exciting experiences, nothing compares to living and enjoying our reality”, says the Minister of Tourism and Employment of the Government of the Canary Islands, Jéssica de León.

The campaign is present in the main markets and in New York

Under the slogan 'Reality you can truly see, hear, and feel', the manifesto of this initiative states: “We invite you to discover the true immersive experience. Thousands of landscapes. No cables, no ties. It doesn't use battery, it charges. It doesn't keep you connected, it disconnects you. And they are not glasses, they are the Canary Islands”.

The campaign extends beyond Spain and reaches countries such as United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Ireland, among others. In addition, creativity also reaches New York, where it can be seen alongside advertising from the renowned technology company.

“We are leading an ingenious advertising campaign with which, through humor, we seek to vindicate the real in the midst of the boom of virtuality. We thus aspire to encourage reflection on the importance of finding a balance between the use of new technologies and the enjoyment of what we have before us, which in the case of the Canary Islands are its landscapes, its warm temperature or its rich gastronomy”, explains the managing director of Tourism of the Canary Islands, José Juan Lorenzo.
