The Municipal Housing and Services Company (Muvisa) of La Laguna has launched a new communication to people and entities owners of empty and completed buildings to invite them to submit their proposals to the tender for purchase by the entity and participate in the affordable rental program.
As reported this Wednesday by the La Laguna City Council in a note, Muvisa will allocate 4 million euros to these acquisitions this year, which aim to make these homes part of an affordable rental pool to continue increasing the local supply capacity, which already has 70 homes and in which the beneficiaries pay 30% of the family unit's income as a maximum.
"We are aware of the difficulties and that it is a reality that transcends our territorial limits, also in terms of competence, but we cannot wait any longer," said the mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez.
The mayor has also announced that next month they will present a study on housing in the municipality commissioned to the General Foundation of the University of La Laguna and that "it will be the starting point for making various decisions in this area".
On this, the CEO of Muvisa, Ignacio Viciana, has pointed out that, in addition to the scarce supply of housing in the market, they have detected "a worrying problem of empty housing that we will know in more detail in the FGULL report".
"We have to address the growing reality of families with income and, especially, those who receive the Minimum Interprofessional Wage (which is estimated at 1 in 5 people), with serious difficulties in accessing the free housing market and who face prices that represent an unaffordable overexertion," Viciana said.
