Sponsored by Foods of Spain, the Ministry of Agriculture's strategy to promote the country's food, the renowned rice grower and miller, Edu Torres, is preparing to travel throughout Spain to make his Km.0 gastronomic paella in each location, and has decided to start his journey in Lanzarote on April 30.
The Valencian businessman is considered one of the most original rice farmers in the country, and among many other innovations, he was part of a call from NASA, in collaboration with chef Ángel León, to obtain a plate of non-perishable rice.
On the island, he will perform his first four hands with chef Santi Benéitez at the Costa Teguise restaurant SeBE, for which reservations are now open.
The paella they will prepare will highlight the product of Lanzarote, in this case the scarlet shrimp from La Santa, and will be made in collaboration with chef Borja Marrero, Michelin Green Star, proclaimed by Foods of Spain for his agri-food work.
Eduardo Torres Benéitez explained that Torres rice is known for "distancing itself from the designation of origin" and has been recognized by "great chefs in the country such as Ángel León, Rodrigo de la Calle, Cañitas Mayte, Lluis Valls and a long list of Michelin stars, where Dabiz Muñoz is also present."
Torres is part of the fourth generation of a family dedicated to the cultivation and commercialization of rice, under the Molino Roca brand.
