Several cheeses from Lanzarote, awarded at the 'Word Cheese Awards 2023'

The Archipelago receives a total of 38 medals. Meanwhile, Lanzarote scores one gold, three silver and eight bronze.

Several cheeses from Lanzarote have received medals at the Word Cheese Awards 2023, the most important international competition in the sector. In this 35th edition, which has left 38 medals in the Canary Islands, the product of Lanzarote has received one gold, three silver and eight bronze medals.

The event was held in Trondheim (Norway), where 4,502 cheeses from 43 countries competed. The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty of the Government of the Canary Islands, Narvay Quintero, highlighted that "the Canary Islands' triumph in this prestigious competition is a new demonstration of the quality of the Islands' productions, internationally awarded, and represents a recognition of the work of our cheese makers".

Of the medals awarded in Lanzarote, the gold was awarded to Finca de Uga spread in paprika, the silver medal to the natural soft goat cheese from Quesería El Faro. Meanwhile, the bronzes were awarded to the Guatisea Viejo and the Guatisea semi-cured from Quesería Montaña Blanca, the smoked soft goat and the cured goat paprika from Quesería El Faro and the Bodega de Oveja, Rojillo, Don Nicolás and Vulcano from the island.
