The Government, at the proposal of the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports, has approved in the Council of Ministers this Tuesday the distribution of 50 million euros to the Canary Islands to develop Vocational Training actions aimed at the active population.

Specifically, the Canary Islands will receive 40.1 million euros to improve the training offer for unemployed workers; 8.4 million euros for the training of employed workers; and another 1.4 million euros aimed at activating specific programs called by the region itself, both for employed and unemployed workers, according to a government statement.

In total, the autonomous communities will receive 867.28 million euros from the General State Budgets, of which 696.5 million euros will be allocated to training for unemployed workers; 145.9 million for training employed workers; and another 24.8 million to specific programs called by the autonomous communities, both for employed and unemployed workers.

For their part, the autonomous communities commit to developing the actions between January 1, 2024 and December 31, 2025.

These should be directed to the needs of the labor market in relation to the actions linked to the national Vocational Training system.

The distribution of this amount was recently approved by the communities in the Sectoral Conference of the Qualification and Vocational Training System for Employment dependent on the Ministry.
