Lanzarote wines are increasingly making a name for themselves in the world of wine.
The wineries El Grifo, Vega de Yuco and Martinón have been recognized with different awards at the XX Bacchus International Wine Competition 2022.
Specifically, Bodegas El Grifo was the only one in the Canary Islands to achieve a Gran Bacchus de Oro, with its Malvasía Canari wine, being selected as the best fortified and liqueur wine of the competition. In addition, they have won two Bacchus de Oro medals, with their Malvasía Lías 2019 and Malvasía Seco Colección 2021 references, and one Silver, with the Malvasía Brut Nature Reserva 2016.
For its part, Bodegas Vega de Yuco has been awarded with two awards, a Bacchus de Oro, with its Vega de Yuco Blanco Seco wine, and another Silver, thanks to its Esencia Yaiza Blanco Seco. Bodegas Martinón has also been successful in this event with a Bacchus de Oro medal, through its Blanco Martinón.
The Bacchus International Wine Competition is the only competition in Spain recognized by the OIV (International Organization of Vine and Wine), opening its registration to wines from other parts of the world. Four days in which the more than 1,700 participating wines and a hundred tasters turn Madrid into the world capital of wine.
According to Tecnovino.com, this XX edition of the Bacchus International Competition has brought together the largest cast of world-class professionals. Thus, it gathered in Madrid from April 25 to 28 Masters of Wine (highest distinction in the sector) to lead a panel of 70 tasters, among which are the most influential opinion leaders on the planet (sommeliers, purchasing managers of distribution groups and wine institutions, and specialized critics) from 13 countries: Germany, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Slovakia, Spain, Italy, Mexico, Moldova, Portugal, Czech Republic and Uruguay.
