The Councilor for Tourism Promotion of the Cabilo, Ángel Vázquez, has confirmed that there are already twelve hotels open in Lanzarote and that about 70 will reopen their doors between July and August. "Then there would be between 60 and 65 hotels that still do not have an opening date," he said on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero.
Regarding the twelve hotels that are in operation, Vázquez explained that "many" are establishments that have "permanent clients" and that did not close their doors during the state of alarm, while others are small apartment complexes.
"Then there are approximately between 45 and 50 hotels that will open in July and about twenty that will do so in August", added the Councilor for Tourism Promotion, who nevertheless specified that "they will go to half capacity or with very low percentages".
"The forecasts that are handled are not bad"
Regarding the flights that have arrived on the island so far, the Councilor for Tourism Promotion has stated that they have done so "with few tourists". The Ryanair flight that came from Manchester, which came at half capacity, were probably the first tourists who came," he pointed out.
"Logically, the profitability of the hotels is not going to be very good, although we will continue working to ensure that tourists continue to come," added Ángel Vázquez, who even so has stated that the forecasts that are handled "are not bad". "The only thing that logically you have to be patient, go slowly and above all minimizing the risks and giving some security," he concluded.
