Aena and the unions have failed to reach an agreement to avoid the strike that threatens the operation of airports during Easter and until the end of summer. CCOO, UGT and USO met twice this Thursday with Aena, but these meetings have not come to fruition.

Thus, for the moment, the 22 days of strike notice are still being maintained which also coincide with key dates in the holiday period. Specifically, the stoppages are called for the 20th, 21st, 24th, 25th and 30th of April, that is, the departure and return dates of the holidays. In addition, strikes have also been called for the 2nd, 14th, 15th, 19th and 20th of May, as well as for the 13th, 23rd and 30th of June, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 14th and 31st of July and, finally, the 1st, 15th and 31st of August.

The Aena staff intends to protest in this way against the privatization of airport management, which according to the public entity, will continue. For the moment, Aena has presented a proposal to the workers' unions and they have committed to studying it.

This same Thursday, both the president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Paulino Rivero, and the general secretary of the PSOE in the Canary Islands, José Miguel Pérez, had expressed their confidence that unions and Aena would reach an agreement to call off the strike. Rivero, for example, was "optimistic" about the results of the efforts being made by the Ministry of Development.

For his part, José Miguel Pérez met with Minister José Blanco and, from that meeting, he also came away with the feeling that this conflict could be resolved. However, for the moment there is no agreement, so Aena workers are still maintaining these strike days.
