After a whole week visiting and getting to know in depth everything that the island of Lanzarote has to offer, 200 travel agents from Itaka, the number one tour operator in Poland, will return to their country this Saturday.
Itaka is characterized by moving tourists between 25 and 50 years old, with a medium-high purchasing power, who opt for a destination that offers, in addition to sun and beach, active tourism closely related to sports.
"And that is precisely what the travel agents participating in the annual convention have found in Lanzarote, which the Polish tour operator decided to hold this year on the island, and which has been organized thanks to the close relationship that Itaka maintains with Turismo Lanzarote and, thanks also, to the economic collaboration of Promotur and the involvement of Turismo de Canarias and Turespaña", they point out from the Cabildo.
According to the vice president and Minister of Tourism of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Ástrid Pérez, "Itaka represents for Turismo Lanzarote the outstanding importance that the Polish market is gaining, within Europe as an issuing area, so we trust that the program of visits that they have developed these days on the island has been satisfactory and they have been able to enjoy our tourism product. We believe that Lanzarote has all the elements and attractions to be a good tourist destination that will not disappoint its customers".
Similarly, during the closing ceremony of the convention, which was held on the night of Thursday, November 17 in the auditorium of the Cueva de Los Verdes, and which also included the presence of the Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ricardo Fernández de la Puente, and the General Director of Tourism Planning and Promotion, Rita Hernández, the highest island official for Tourism, stressed in her speech that "our commitment to the Polish market and to strengthening the lines of collaboration with Itaka is firm".
Ástrid Pérez also spoke about the different joint promotion campaigns that have put Lanzarote in the minds of the Polish people. "The results are good and confirm Itaka as a suitable partner to work together in the future," the councillor stressed.
Turismo Lanzarote's collaboration with Itaka dates back to 2007 and, according to the Cabildo, is bearing fruit. Currently, they already have 2 flights to the island (Warsaw and Wroc?aw) and there are plans for a third one from summer 2012.
For his part, the Deputy Minister of Tourism of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ricardo Fernández de la Puente, highlighted the growth that the Polish market has had during this year and pointed out that "the Canary Islands has received 90 percent more tourists from Poland in 2011, accounting for 128,112 Polish travelers so far this year".
However, Fernández de la Puente also explained that "the Government of the Canary Islands will continue to make a firm commitment to this market so that they choose the Canary Islands as their best travel choice and recommended that tour operators include the great advantages of the tourist destination of Lanzarote, as well as the rest of the Islands, in their travel catalogs".
Workshop at the Farmer's Monument
The 200 travel agents participating in the Annual Convention that Itaka has held in Lanzarote, have participated throughout the week in different events, including a dynamic workshop that took place yesterday Thursday at the Farmer's Monument, where they could also enjoy a folk performance and taste the typical products of the island.
Various complementary leisure companies from the island participated in the exhibition, as well as the town councils with their tourist offer, the tourist associations Asolany Aetur, the BUCO diving association and the golf courses.
There was also a representation of Promotur and the islands of Fuerteventura, Tenerife, La Palma and El Hierro at the workshop.
Similarly, during their stay in Lanzarote, the Polish agents were able to get to know the island's hotel offer, as they toured the island from north to south visiting the facilities of different accommodation establishments, and enjoyed, among other activities, a day of leisure in La Graciosa.
