During 2022, the Canary Islands received approximately 80.78 million euros in subsidies for the transport of goods offered by the Government of the Canary Islands, a figure that reflects an increase of approximately 21% compared to the 66.66 million that were granted in the past year 2021.

The subsidies granted have been divided into three types of aid (industrial, agricultural and banana transport) and exceed the credit initially established in the General State Budgets for 2022, which was 69,029,240 euros, because an extension of the credit initially planned has been made by more than 11 million euros in order to be able to pay 100% of the costs justified by the applicants.

The industrial sector takes the largest share

In this way, the largest share, -46.7 million euros, has been granted to 175 beneficiaries of aid to the industrial sector (41.7 million euros in 2021). Likewise, 15.9 million euros have been allocated to 167 beneficiaries belonging to the agricultural sector, compared to 14.9 million last year.

Regarding aid for the transport of bananas, 18.1 million euros have been granted to eight beneficiaries, resulting in an increase of 81.5% in the amounts granted by the regional executive in 2021.

The Government Delegation in the Canary Islands has reported that "it is expected that the work prior to the transfer of aid will be completed before December 24 and payments of subsidies for the transport of goods are expected to be made during the last week of the year and the first of 2023".
