The Cabildo of Lanzarote has opened the call for grants for sanitary hot water installations and replacement of carpentry for the improvement of the thermal envelope, framed in a project aimed at mitigating climate change and promoting the ecological transition of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.

The institution will allocate 60,000 euros for a project financed by the Government of the Canary Islands, through the program called “Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energies and Promotion of the Electric Vehicle” granted by the General Directorate of Energy of the Government of the Canary Islands, of the Ministry of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning.

The island councilor of Energy, Ariagona González, explains that this project aims to promote the energy efficiency of the island's energy system, reduce its CO2 emissions and achieve greater energy autonomy, among others.

“We must promote the necessary actions and policies for a transition towards clean energies and less dependence on hydrocarbons, and that is why, together with other projects, this will allow us to continue on the path of sustainability during 2022”, says the councilor.

With respect to the corresponding amounts for the applicants for the subsidies, they will be distributed as follows: in the case of sanitary hot water installations, the amount will be established at 500 euros per square meter of solar panel installed, up to 50% of the installation cost will be subsidized and this may not exceed 1,000 euros per installation in any case.

On the other hand, in the case of improvements to thermal envelopes, up to 50% of the installation cost will be subsidized and this may not exceed 3,000 euros per installation in any case.

In the event that the project presented by the applicant contains both actions, the economic limit will be 3,000 euros.

The deadline to submit applications extends until February 3 and the bases, the application form, the annexes, and any information of interest can be found on the website of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, as well as in the Energy Area of the Corporation.
