“This is going to be ruined. Last year there were also people, but this year it has been horrendous”. That is one of the messages that the residents of La Graciosa have launched this Monday, in a news item broadcast on La Sexta news. “I see it as an invasion in quotation marks. Many cars, many people, there are no services for so many”, says another of those interviewed by the network.

The television piece highlights that 19 ships “overflowing” dock at the eighth island every day and that La Graciosa “is overwhelmed”. In fact, there is not a bed available and the person in charge of some apartments explains that reservations for the summer are being made a year in advance.
As for the hotel industry, the situation is similar. “There is no table, everything is full”, they explain from one of the restaurants, which are working at full capacity in all shifts. And the same thing happens, as noted in the La Sexta news, with the “taxis” of La Graciosa. “They don't stop”, it is stated in the news, while one of the drivers talks about the “stress” with which they are working.

In addition, the news talks about “deserted beaches that cease to be so” and also about what tourists find. “You look for peace and quiet to rest and regain strength and all you see is people, people, people”, says a woman. “The neighbors want it to remain their natural reserve”, concludes the La Sexta news, which maintains that the residents demand that tourism be regulated on the eighth island.
