The Ministry of Transport of the Government of the Canary Islands and the airline Binter have agreed to expand the offer of daily flights between the islands, "given the growth in the number of passengers who needed to travel between the islands for essential reasons." Thus, after the archipelago's entry into phase 1 of de-escalation, it will go from the 20 round-trip flights currently operating on inter-island routes to 32 daily routes.
In the case of Lanzarote, this will mean recovering the connection with Tenerife, with a daily flight. In addition, frequencies to Gran Canaria will be increased, which had been reduced to two daily round-trip flights.
The measure will come into effect from this Wednesday, when flights from Lanzarote to Tenerife can already be purchased. As for flights to Gran Canaria, four additional flights are planned, although not all have yet been enabled.
Restrictions on flying remain
The company explains that all flights will continue to operate under the same current conditions, marked by current regulations, which establish a limitation of 50% of the seats offered on inter-island flights. In addition, as before, only passengers who justify the need for travel will be able to travel, either for health, work or return to their usual place of residence.
"As we enter Phase 1 of the de-escalation, it is clear that throughout the Canary Islands there is more economic activity than there was a few weeks ago, which is why it is essential to offer adequate air connectivity between the islands to guarantee the travel of those professionals whose jobs are recovering the activity of the moment before the crisis," said the Minister of Transport of the Canary Islands Government.
