Hotel business owners in Lanzarote are the most satisfied with the performance of their businesses last quarter of all the Canary Islands, according to the latest Hotel Expectation Survey from the Canary Islands Institute of Statistics (ISTAC).
While in Lanzarote almost 7 out of 10 hoteliers rate their results favorably between April and June, the Canary Islands average is limited to only 4 out of 10 business owners.
Despite the good results obtained, hoteliers in Lanzarote have highlighted several factors in the survey that limit the activity of their establishment.
Three out of four respondents highlight the shortage of labor in Lanzarote as the primary limiting factor for the development of their business. Far behind, 43% of hotel business owners consider the increase in competition to be the most limiting factor in their activity.
Weak demand, on the one hand, and financial difficulties, on the other, were chosen by only 19.6% and 13.5% respectively.
Among public policies, they highlight security and criticize urban planning
Regarding the effects of public policies on the performance of the establishment, more than half of the hoteliers in Lanzarote favorably value security and environmental protection.
Tourism promotion and environmental cleanliness obtain favorable percentages above 40%.
The worst-rated aspects of public policies are taxation, which only 6% support, and especially urban planning, of which no one among the hoteliers has a positive opinion.
Infrastructure policies do not fare well either, with only 18.3% of hoteliers having a favorable view, the regulations of the accommodation sector (9.9%) and training (9%).
