The low-cost airline Iberia Express has announced that it will reinforce its capacity with the Canary Islands during the December long weekend with 26 additional flights.
“The December long weekend is an excellent opportunity to visit the Canary Islands and, at the same time, we see an increase in demand for flights to Madrid to enjoy this long weekend in the capital”, commented Isabel Rodríguez, commercial director of Iberia Express.
Specifically, from December 5 to 9, the airline will add 276 takeoffs on its routes between Madrid and the archipelago: 96 with Gran Canaria, 80 with Tenerife North and another 24 with Tenerife South, 34 with Lanzarote, 28 with Fuerteventura and another 14 with La Palma.
And, in total, Iberia Express will improve connectivity with the Canary Islands during this December long weekend with nearly 56,000 seats, which is 10% more than its base program and demonstrates the airline's commitment to the archipelago.
The largest increases for Iberia Express during these days, both in number of flights and in seats, correspond to Fuerteventura and Tenerife South; on both islands, the airline has scheduled 20% more capacity to facilitate travel in both directions.
Iberia Express is part of the Iberia Group, the leading low cost airline at the Madrid airport and also on routes to the Canary and Balearic Islands. It offers short and medium-haul routes, both to feed Iberia's long-distance network and to compete efficiently in the low-cost airline segment. Iberia Express operates a very efficient fleet of 25 aircraft and has developed a hybrid business model that includes connecting flights and Business service on all its aircraft.
For five consecutive years (2014-2018) it has been the most punctual low-cost airline in the world, in 2022 it was the most punctual low-cost airline in Europe, and in 2023 it has been the most punctual airline in Europe and the fifth most punctual low-cost airline in the world, according to the Cirium consultancy.
