Fred. Olsen Express and Baleària are reinforcing their maritime route between the Canary Islands and Huelva during the summer months. Specifically, between July 1 and September 30, they will increase from three to four weekly routes in each direction. This will double the departures offered during the same period last year.
From July 1, there will be departures from Huelva on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, all destined for Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, except for the Wednesday trip, which will only have a connection to Tenerife. Departures from the islands will be on Sundays, Mondays, and Thursdays, with the latter day having two trips from Tenerife.
The route is operated by two ships: the ship Sicilia, which has a capacity for 1,000 passengers and 400 vehicles, as well as the ferry Marie Curie, which can accommodate more than 800 passengers and 600 vehicles. This expansion of connections will allow to respond to the high demand expected for the summer period, both for passengers and for the transport of rolling cargo between the Peninsula and the Canary Islands.
The service between mainland Spain and the Canary Islands, operated by Fred. Olsen Express and Baleària for more than five years, shows this strategic alliance for the sea connection between the islands and the peninsula.
Since its inception, the connection has transported more than one million linear meters of cargo and more than 155,000 passengers between Huelva and the Canary Islands, consolidating a key route for the transport of goods. Among the services of the two ships that cover this route, the cabins, the restoration, and the services for pets stand out.
