The alliance consists of the implementation of joint initiatives to mitigate the threats suffered by ten species of aquatic mammals that inhabit the coasts and rivers of South America, such as the pink or Amazonian dolphins, black or Chilean dolphins and La Plata or Franciscana dolphins (all three in danger of extinction); the manatee or sea cow; the yubarta or humpback whale; the river wolf or giant otter; the sea lion; the bottlenose and southern dolphins and the chungungo or sea cat, the latter in very serious danger of extinction.

The World Environment Day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in its resolution of December 15, 1972. It has been celebrated since 1973 on June 5 of each year, the date on which the Stockholm Conference began in 1972, whose central theme was the Environment.

The motto chosen by the United Nations to celebrate World Environment Day 2017 Connecting people to nature, coincides with the founding philosophy of both Yaqu Pacha and Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park: to transmit to society the importance of protecting nature.
