Hospiten has launched a project to improve energy efficiency in the facilities of all the centers in the Canary Islands, within the framework of its corporate social responsibility policy and with the aim of optimizing the use of available resources and thus offering the best possible service to patients and our human team.

Specifically, the company has carried out improvement works at Hospiten Lanzarote and other group centers such as the Hospiten Bellevue, Hospiten Rambla and Hospiten Sur University Hospitals, with a total budget exceeding 2,500,000 euros, through an Energy Rehabilitation of Existing Buildings program, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and coordinated by the IDEA. The reforms aim to achieve a cleaner and more sustainable economy, and aim to achieve greater energy efficiency and improve the energy rating of buildings.

Project Details

The project has included the replacement of cooling production equipment, aerothermal energy, high-efficiency air treatment units for operating rooms with energy recovery, changing lighting to LED and a BMS (Building Management System) installation control system in the different Hospiten hospital centers.

These actions are allowing energy savings of 25% in air conditioning, 50% in sanitary hot water, 50% in lighting and 15% on the total of facilities, optimizing their use through the BMS.

Pedro Luis Cobiella, Vice President and CEO of Hospiten explains that "these measures improve and optimize the consumption and energy efficiency of our health centers, to be more sustainable and create spaces where patients and our staff feel better. The way to achieve this is by modernizing our centers in everything related to energy systems and installations."

At Hospiten, we focus on analyzing the current energy situation to improve its contribution to respect for the environment, in addition to optimizing the use of resources and the maintenance of hospitals. All of this, with the aim of turning these changes into improvements for the patient and for the team itself.
