HiperDino, through the use of reusable transport packaging (RTP) from the IFCO brand, has managed to avoid the emission of 2,447,685 kg of CO2 and has saved 47,828 m3 of water in 2023. This is the equivalent, respectively, to the greenhouse gas emissions that 1,769 cars would stop emitting if they did not circulate for a year, and to the volume of water that corresponds to 1,195,708 five-minute showers. IFCO is a world-leading provider of reusable packaging solutions for fresh food.
Since 2006 and as part of its commitment to take into account the environmental impact in all its decisions, the chain uses reusable boxes for the transport of products from its logistics centers, both between stores and in home delivery, to the detriment of cardboard, wood and plastic boxes. This circular economy model is allowing it to create a more sustainable product supply chain, while optimizing its efficiency.
These boxes, which are resistant, reusable and recyclable, reduce the carbon footprint (by consuming less water and energy) as well as the use of material resources, and protect food by avoiding food waste. In addition, they guarantee the highest standards of food safety and hygiene; they are innovative by covering a wide range for different uses, and have the prestigious Cradle to Cradle Certified® sustainability certification.
With its use, among the benefits for the environment that HiperDino has achieved in 2023 is also the saving of 170,916 GJ of energy - what 90,328 light bulbs consume during a year -, of more than 1.3 million kilograms of solid waste by avoiding the use of disposable packaging or 223,668 kg of damage to the product - which is equivalent to 372,780 average meals -.
HiperDino contributes to the 2030 Agenda and the 17 SDGs through strategic initiatives defined in its 2022-2030 Strategic Sustainability Plan, composed of three axes and ten sustainability objectives.
In its Axis 3 - Environment and climate, the Sustainability Objective 8 is "Achieve the transition towards a circular economy system", betting on the minimization of non-biodegradable materials, and the maximization of the life cycle of products through their reuse and recycling.

In addition, it is the leading company in the creation of jobs with more than 9,000 workers.
In 2022, the chain generated 2.50% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the Canary Islands, and the impact it produced on employment represented 3.02% of the employed population of the Archipelago.
Present in five of the eight Canary Islands, it reaches seven of them through the online store hiperdino.es. This channel, created in 2015, has all the products of its physical stores and, among the advantages it provides, the customer receives the purchase the day after it has been made.
It also has two exclusive preparation centers for online shopping and 34 DinoShop stores under franchise regime.
Committed to sustainable development, it contemplates three fundamental lines of action: Canarian society and families; commercialization of sustainable products and services, and environmental management and the fight against climate change.
Through the DinoSol Foundation, it collaborates in solidarity with various actions supporting the social and cultural development of the Canary Islands, and pays special attention to the people who are part of HiperDino.
