This course, the Spanish Vocational Training system takes a decisive step towards the future with the widespread implementation of the dual modality, in which students will spend more time training in companies. This new approach represents an unparalleled opportunity, allowing them to have young talents in training and also offers them a solution to the great challenges of today's labor market.
Training talent from the ground up
Dual VET offers companies the possibility of actively involving themselves in the training of young people, even adapting their learning to the specific needs of the company. Students acquire practical knowledge in the real work environment, which allows them to be ready to integrate into teams at the end of their training. Therefore, this model also considerably reduces the time and effort that companies must dedicate to the adaptation of new employees.
Intensive Dual VET: greater commitment, greater reward
On the other hand, the new VET Law introduces the Intensive Dual VET modality, which companies can voluntarily join. In this modality, students sign a learning contract and are paid from day one. In addition, their period in the company is increased compared to General VET, and they can be in it for up to 50% of their training. Several companies on the island have already expressed their interest in participating in this model.
The most promising solution to the shortage of skilled labor
In a country where companies continue to face serious difficulties in finding qualified personnel, Dual VET is presented as a strategic solution. The Canary Islands, for example, has high rates of youth unemployment that coexist with a chronic shortage of trained workers. Dual VET in general, and Intensive VET in particular, aims to respond to this contradiction: to attract more young people to Vocational Training, especially in those studies with high employability but low demand, and to ensure that future graduates are trained to provide added value to companies from day one.
The testimony of those who are already betting on change
