Circo Alegría arrives in Arrecife for the first time after starting its successful tour of the archipelago last September in Tenerife. This tour, which is touring all the islands, presents the production 'Circo Alegría On Ice', a new generation show where traditional circus merges with innovation to offer viewers a performance in which artists perform circus acts skating on ice.

This novel family show will take place under the big top of Circo Alegría installed in the Arrecife Fairgrounds from December 25 to January 10.

'Circo Alegría On Ice' is a spectacular advance for the world of circus, combining musical style with aerial, acrobatic and comedic numbers on an ice rink that does not consume energy. The production premiered last year in Barcelona and since then has passed through Palma de Mallorca, Lleida, Zaragoza, Pamplona, San Sebastián, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Logroño and Huesca.

Set on an island in the Arctic Ocean, the show tells the story of Lisa and Lucas, a seal and a hunter who will cross their lives forever. Lucas has arrived in the Arctic to carry out his work as a seal hunter. In the distance he sees one of his targets, it is Lisa, when he is going to raise the rifle to aim, an oversight causes it to fire and injure his leg. Lisa, hearing the shot and seeing the hunter lying on the ice, comes to help him. From that moment on, Lisa and Lucas will never be separated.

Lisa calls all her friends the penguins, wolves, sea bears and reindeer to help the hunter. Once cured, Lucas will begin to live many adventures while meeting wonderful beings with whom he will travel a new world for him. He will encounter about twenty circus numbers: equilibrists, trapeze artists, jugglers, comedians, etc.

Spectators will be able to contemplate fantastic numbers such as the free trapeze, the wheel of death, punchers, juggling skaters among many other surprises. From all the inhabitants of the island, Lucas will learn valuable advice and ways to live. A friendship will arise for life between the hunter and the inhabitants of this magical island.

'Circo Alegría On Ice' takes place on a 150 square meter ecological ice rink. "Since we set out to produce 'Circo Alegría On Ice' we were clear that we wanted to convey a message of environmental awareness. In our previous shows we have never worked with animals and therefore in this show we have tried to make all the elements we use as respectful as possible with the environment".

In this novel and ambitious production, the more than forty international artists who participate will defy the laws of gravity by performing dangerous and spectacular acrobatics at a dizzying pace and skating on the ice. "These numbers require great strength, flexibility and control, so the casting of artists has not been easy," argues Di Lello. The ice dancing company comes from England, while the artists belong to nationalities as disparate as Russian, Argentine, Polish, Italian, French or Swiss.

Tickets can be purchased from 8 euros at circoalegria.es, and at the Circus box office.

Costumes and music

Spectators of 'Circo Alegría On Ice' can enjoy an absolutely spectacular set design and beautiful costumes. "The palette is flooded with vibrant solid colors, while the shapes are guided by the movements of the artist," explains Dicky Faggioni, artistic director of Circo Alegría.

"All the costumes have been made by our seamstresses. They have been working on this show since January, so the excitement is maximum," adds Faggioni excitedly. "As for the soundtrack, we have made adaptations with some of the best composers. The sound and lighting will bring a fundamental value to the show.", he assures.
