The German tour operator TUI plans to bring some 100,000 tourists to the Canary Islands during the month of December, which represents between 60 and 70% of what is usual under normal conditions.

This was conveyed this Thursday by the CEO of Hotels & Resorts, Cruises, Destination Experiences and Contracting of TUI, Sebastian Ebel, to the President of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, and the Minister of Tourism, Industry and Commerce, Yaiza Castilla, during a telematic meeting.

The purpose of the meeting was to monitor the situation in the islands, especially regarding the latest decisions adopted that affect mobility and entry conditions to the archipelago, as well as the analysis of the international tourism situation of this tour operator of German origin.

For his part, Torres explained the new more restrictive measures that will be applied in Tenerife from 24:00 on Friday, which do not affect the arrival of foreign tourists and for which the autonomous decree law of urgent measures for tourism will continue to be applied.

In this section, it was clear that the rule of sanitary controls for Covid-19 for Tenerife, applicable from Saturday, December 19, until January 1, 2021 (inclusive), does not affect the entry of tourists, who may continue arriving to all the Canary Islands and, of course, to Tenerife with a negative Covid test to stay in regulated tourist establishments.
