The Minister of Territorial Policy, Ángel Víctor Torres, has stated that it is "foreseeable" that this Thursday the Ministry of Children and the Government of the Canary Islands will agree on the distribution criteria for unaccompanied migrant minors among communities promoted by the islands' Executive in order to decongest their resources.
In statements to the media in La Roda (Albacete), on the occasion of the visit he made to the City Council, the minister said that this morning he met with the president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, to review "documents."
In this sense, he stated that some contributions from the Government of the Canary Islands with which the central Executive agrees have been included in the "roadmap" they are working with, and recalled that the Basque Government, Ceuta and Melilla have also made suggestions.
In addition, he pointed out that this afternoon Clavijo will meet with the Minister of Children, Sira Rego, a meeting in which it is "foreseeable" that the criteria for the distribution of migrant minors among the communities will be agreed, such as "population, effort and others."
Next week a meeting will be held with the First Vice President and Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, to agree on the financing and has advanced that, when they also have the report from the State Attorney's Office, which will be next week, an interministerial meeting will be convened to which the President of the Canary Islands and the rest of the presidents of autonomous communities who wish to attend will be invited to "close the final text."
