The president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, has defended bringing forward the curfew to 10:00 p.m. during Holy Week and has insisted that on those days the restriction measures that are in force will be tightened to avoid the massive increase in infections.
This was stated in statements to the media after the Public Health Commission set the curfew from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. during Holy Week, a measure that must be ratified next Wednesday at the Interterritorial Health Council.
Ángel Víctor Torres recalled that the moments in which the accumulated incidence on the islands has increased has coincided with days of rest, as occurred in August and December, on Carnival days and that it will predictably occur during Holy Week.
For this reason, Torres reiterated that the Government of the Canary Islands is going to bet on "hard" restrictions for this Holy Week to recover normality "as soon as possible" with procedures that "we cannot put at risk because we want to advance nights of leisure, fun and others."
The Canarian president has indicated that the measures that will govern during the next Holy Week will be taken next Wednesday at the Interterritorial Health Commission, which will be unitary for the entire country.
