The Ministry of Public Administrations, Justice and Security of the Government of the Canary Islands, headed by Julio Pérez, managed to execute 93.78% of its budget in 2021, according to the advance of the closing of the fiscal year. Last year, the budget execution reached 294,429,805.61 euros, out of a total of 313,968,299.42, which means 10.70 million more than in 2020. The unexecuted credit amounted to 19.5 million euros, an amount that can be incorporated as a surplus in the current year.
The initial budget of this department for 2021 was 308,284,352 euros and was increased by 5,683,947.42 due to transfers from the Government of Spain and the European Union, which allowed it to exceed 313.9 million euros.
It should be noted that the volcanic emergency in La Palma, decreed in September 2021, generated an expense of approximately 4.3 million euros and that chapter 1 represented 49.38% of the total expenditure executed, pending the final closure of the fiscal year.
Julio Pérez, head of the area, has positively assessed these data and congratulated the management team and staff of his Ministry for the effort made to achieve these important figures in economic matters and which have been reflected, for example, in the continuous process of modernization and digital transformation of the Canary Islands Public Administration, as stated by the head of the department.
A process that has, among other exponents, the implementation of the strategy of digital transformation of the public service of the administration of justice in the Canary Islands or the implementation and development of technological tools for the digital management of judicial processes and the holding of telematic trials.
To these actions we must add the implementation of the electronic file in the procedures for issuing reports and sufficient powers, guarantees and other guarantees of the Vice-Ministry of Legal Services, as well as management by objectives in most departments of the Canary Islands government or the deployment of 012, which in addition to assuming all services (prior to the pandemic situation) has added massive campaigns such as vaccination, being an important value to carry it out in the shortest possible time.
Throughout 2021, the Ministry of Public Administrations, Security and Justice also carried out the implementation of the new citizen participation and open data portals of the Canary Islands, the development of the Canary Islands Open Government Network and the renovation of the transparency portal of the Government of the Canary Islands.
