The president of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, Astrid Pérez, and the former presidents of the Chamber Antonio Castro, Gabriel Mato, Carolina Darias and Gustavo Matos have received this Friday the Collar de la Orden Islas Canarias, the highest distinction granted by the Government of the Canary Islands. Astrid Pérez stressed that "it is a great honor for me to receive this very high recognition, as a sign of commitment and work at the service of the Canary Islands and the people who live in our eight islands. It is also a pleasure to impose, as the second authority of our islands, this necklace Fernando Clavijo, whose trajectory, dedication and personal worth make him of course deserving of this distinction."
Clavijo also imposed the necklace to the former presidents of the Canary Islands Ángel Víctor Torres, Adán Martín and Paulino Rivero, as well as the presidents and former presidents of the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC) Juan Luis Lorenzo Bragado, Antonio Castro Feliciano, Jose Ramón Navarro Miranda and Antonio Doreste Armas. The president of the Canarian Government received this decoration from the hands of the president of the Chamber, Astrid Pérez.
Clavijo highlighted the "priceless" work of the architects of the "modern, open and supportive" Canary Islands of which we can be proud today. For Clavijo, the delivery of the Collar de la Orden Islas Canarias to the highest authorities of the autonomous government, the Parliament and the TSJC partially settles that debt with those who have contributed to "raise and build this autonomous community".
The head of the Canarian Executive thanked all the honorees for their "tireless work and their enormous contribution to unite a distant and fragmented land that has been able to move forward overcoming all adversities".
