Merchants in the center of Arrecife criticize the management of the City Council in reference to the works being carried out on Fajardo Street. On this occasion, the resurfacing of the streets adjacent to the city center "prevents" the operation of their businesses, they have complained to La Voz.
Some of the merchants near Calle Real have contacted the newspaper to highlight the "difficulty of access" for customers to their stores on such a special date as this Friday, Black Friday. A day in which many Lanzarote residents come to local shops to treat themselves before the arrival of Christmas.
As can be seen in the images, the resurfacing works have cut off part of the street and the machinery with which the workers work makes their entrance complicated, also for visitors who want to shop in the stores.
In addition, they complain that the City Council has chosen this Saturday night as the specific day for the Christmas 'Lighting of lights'. A decision for which the merchants are "very unhappy". "It was better to do it on Friday, coinciding with 'Black Friday' and with the shops open'", they comment to the newspaper.
