"YOU ALSO MAKE THE VOICE"

An unemployed mother from Arrecife, "helpless" because she cannot get the City Council to assist her with aid

She claims that they told her that she had to call by phone to make an appointment but that she has been calling for "three months" and more than a hundred calls and "they don't answer". "I don't know what to do or where to go", she says.

A single mother unemployed "for more than two years" and a resident of Argana Alta says she feels "helpless". And this woman says that she has been trying for three months to be attended to at the Arrecife City Council to apply for help.

"The Public Employment Service refers me to social workers to apply for the famous Canarian Insertion Benefit, but firstly it turns out that in the neighborhood where I live, Argana Alta, there is no social worker. And secondly, they give me a phone number to request an appointment for the PCI, where I can only call on Fridays from 8 to 10 in the morning, which is either busy or they don't answer", she criticizes.

"They only answered me once, but they just told me that the guy who was processing the PCI was on leave at that moment", says this resident of Argana Alta, who says that if she goes to the City Council in person they don't attend to her either because they tell her that she has to make an appointment through that phone number, which she claims to have called more than a hundred times without success. In addition, she points out that she also sent an email to the Government of the Canary Islands, but they have not responded.

"I have been helpless for three months, with a child, rent and no help", says this woman, who is also six months pregnant. "I don't know what to do or where to go", she concludes.
